PAPAR: Some 110 passengers and three train crewmembers returned home unscathed after being trapped in a train for three hours following a landslide near a train tunnel, here, Monday night.
Police said the incident occurred at about 7.30pm when the exit point of the train tunnel near Pengalat Besar was sealed off by the landslide – immediately stopping the train’s journey towards Beaufort.
Various agencies rushed to the scene to carry out rescue operations to extricate the passengers along with the crew members.
“The passengers were then brought to Papar police station for documentation and medical inspection to ensure that they were not injured," said police.
