Iranian human rights activist and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Narges Mohammadi continues to be in critical condition in hospital in Zanjan, the north-western city where she has been imprisoned, her husband Taghi Rahmani posted on X on Saturday.
Mohammadi's blood pressure had been recorded at an extremely low 90/40 and she was struggling to speak, Rahmani, who lives in Paris, said.
He said the doctors treating her were able to stabilize her condition with medication only "temporarily" and she was in urgent need of comprehensive treatment.
Mohammadi, 54, has been in intensive care in hospital in Zanjan for a week since suffering a heart attack. Rahmani and other family members have been calling for days for her to be transferred to Tehran for treatment by her own specialists.
The Narges Mohammadi Foundation has also said that the Zanjan doctors are not fully acquainted with her medical history, and there have been calls from abroad for her to be released or at least transferred to Tehran.
Mohammadi received the 2023 Nobel Peace Prize while she was in prison "for her fight against the oppression of women in Iran and her fight to promote human rights and freedom for all."
In early February she was handed an additional lengthy sentence for "conspiracy" and "propagandistic activity" along with a ban on foreign travel.
