- Mark Cain, 45, has appeared before Norwich Magistrates’ Court charged with the murder of his wife, Dr Hannah Cain, who was discovered dead at their home near the Sandringham Estate in Norfolk.
- Dr Cain, 45, worked as a local GP and served as part of a pool of doctors regularly on call for members of the royal family when they stayed at nearby Sandringham House.
- The court heard that emergency services were called to the property in the early hours of 4 October, where Dr Cain was found upstairs with blunt force head injuries and marks suggestive of neck compression, while children were present inside the home.
- The defendant spoke only to confirm his name, address, and date of birth, and was not required to enter a plea during the brief preliminary hearing.
- District Judge Matthew Bone remanded Mark Cain in custody and formally sent the murder case to King’s Lynn Crown Court for further proceedings.
