SEBERANG Jaya authorities have secured a seven-day remand against a 28-year-old man in connection with the fatal stabbing of his wife at their apartment, police confirmed.
The remand, granted by Magistrate J. Savinder Singh at Bukit Mertajam Magistrate’s Court, will run from today until 18 December, allowing investigators to conduct further inquiries under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
The suspect, an unemployed man, appeared in court this morning in handcuffs wearing standard orange detention attire.
Police said the case came to light after the man voluntarily turned himself in yesterday, admitting he had killed his wife four days prior. Officers were informed that the 44-year-old woman had died in their second-floor unit on Jalan Tuna in Seberang Jaya.
Following his confession, police recovered the victim’s body in a back room of the apartment. Investigators noted that she had sustained a knife wound to the neck.
“The victim and suspect had been married for the past two years,” authorities confirmed, adding that the motive behind the killing remains under investigation.
The case continues to be probed rigorously as police seek to determine the full circumstances surrounding the tragic incident. - December 12, 2025
