KOTA KINABALU: A series of message exchanges on a messaging app, which was subsequently shared on X, Monday, has caused an uproar due to the derogatory comments made by a husband regarding his wife potentially undergoing a Caesarean section (C-section).

The screenshots depict the husband discouraging his wife from opting for the procedure, citing superficial reasons and suggesting that he would prefer to marry someone else if she were to go through with it.

“Don’t do it. It will ruin your body. At this age, why would you need surgery? Better I marry someone else who is still healthy,” the message read.

The husband’s remarks quickly garnered widespread criticism on X, with many users expressing disgust and disbelief.

“Caesarean or normal birth. These are ‘battle scars’,” said the doctor.

Dr Samhan further elaborated in a thread, highlighting the critical circumstances that may necessitate a C-section, such as when a baby is in distress or when a mother’s life is at risk.

He underscored that a husband’s role should be to support his wife in such situations rather than to belittle the procedure.

In response, netizens echoed Dr Samhan’s sentiments.

“After this, marriage courses should involve obstetrics and gynaecology (O&G) doctors to educate couples like this,” one X user said.
