MANILA, Philippines — Hybe girl groups Katseye, Le Sserafim and Illit are set to release their first collaboration single, "Iconic By Mistake," on June 12, bringing together three of the entertainment company's most prominent female acts in a highly anticipated cross-group project.
The announcement was made through the groups' official social media platforms over the weekend, accompanied by a promotional schedule outlining a series of teaser releases leading up to the song's debut.
The single will be released at 1 p.m. Korean time on June 12, following the premiere of its official music video a day earlier. The collaboration also includes concept photos, teaser clips and a planned performance on Mnet's "M Countdown."
All three groups are affiliated with Hybe, the South Korean entertainment company behind global acts such as BTS, Seventeen, Tomorrow X Together and Enhypen.
Katseye, a global girl group formed through HYBE and Geffen Records' reality competition project "Dream Academy," features a multinational lineup that includes Filipino member Sophia Laforteza. The group debuted in 2024 and has since gained attention with tracks including "Touch," "Gnarly" and "Gabriela."
Le Sserafim, which debuted in 2022, has established itself as one of K-pop's leading fourth-generation girl groups through hits such as "Fearless" and "Antifragile." Meanwhile, rookie act Illit has enjoyed rapid success since its debut, propelled by the viral popularity of songs including "Magnetic."
Anticipation for the collaboration grew after the release of a pair of teaser videos that hinted at an unconventional concept.
One teaser featured a feather-covered screen that gradually revealed the song's title alongside surreal animated imagery. A voice repeating the phrase "I am iconic by mistake" offered fans a first glimpse into the track's lyrical theme.
A separate music video preview showcased a series of fast-paced scenes set against a seemingly chaotic backdrop, including a futuristic spacecraft, intense windstorms and a dental clinic-inspired setting. The teaser's eccentric visuals quickly generated discussion online, with fans speculating about the song's concept and sound.
The collaboration arrives as all three groups continue major promotional activities. Le Sserafim recently released its latest studio album, while Katseye is preparing for the launch of its upcoming EP, "Wild," scheduled for release in August. Illit, meanwhile, continues to build momentum following the release of its latest EP earlier this year.
