
The Hyundai Ioniq 9 has been spotted in Malaysia, being previewed at the Hyundai Balakong showroom, indicating a launch would be just around the corner. Additionally, the EV as also been confirmed for the upcoming Kuala Lumpur International Mobility Show 2026 (KLIMS 2026) from 12–21 June 2026 at MITEC.
A large, three-row SUV, the Ioniq 9 spotted here was in the luxurious Calligraphy trim. Under the skin boasts an impressive range of up to 620km (WLTP) for the Long Range RWD with a 110.3 kWh lithium-ion battery. In this guise, it uses a single 215 PS motor.

For a little more go, the Long-Range AWD adds a 94 PS front motor to the mix. However, there is an ultimate in going fast with the Performance AWD that uses dual 215 PS motors on the front and rear axles. Its 800 V architecture supports DC fast charging up to 350 kW that allows charging from 10-80% in 24 minutes.
The Ioniq 9 measures in at 5,060 mm long, 1,981 mm wide and 1,791mm tall with a 3,312 mm wheelbase. It is closely related to the Kia EV9 that is also sold here, as both are built on the same Electric Global Modular Platform (e-GMP). Here in Malaysia, the EV9 starts at RM 368,888.

Among its competitors include the Volvo EX90 and Tesla Model X as well as the Volkswagen ID.Buzz and Peugeot e-5008.
The SUV features a 12.3-inch digital cluster paired with a 12.3-inch touchscreen in an integrated panoramic curved display. For the driver, there is a heads-up display (HUD).

The flagship Calligraphy trim adds features such as 21-inch alloy wheels, Nappa leather, relaxation seats, a BOSE audio system, chrome accents on the bumpers and mouldings, body-colour side fenders and a two-tone leather-wrapped steering wheel.
Second row occupants will enjoy the ‘relaxation seats’ with leg rests that can swivel, making for a relaxing commute when coupled with the active noise control.
