To support the wider expansion, Hyundai intends to add another 1.27 million units of global manufacturing capacity by 2030.
HYUNDAI has confirmed that the Santa Fe will become its first extended-range electric vehicle (EREV), with the new variant scheduled to be introduced in the first half of 2027.
Announced during Hyundai Motor Company’s 2026 CEO Investor Day, the Santa Fe EREV is targeting a total driving range of more than 600 miles, or around 966km, while aiming to provide an EV-like driving experience with less dependence on public charging infrastructure. It will be produced at Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama in the United States.
The Santa Fe forms part of a much broader product offensive, with Hyundai planning to launch or refresh more than 100 vehicles globally by 2030, including at least 18 entries into new products or market segments.
Seven new vehicles are due within the next eight months alone. These include the all-new Elantra, Ioniq 3, Tucson and Tucson Hybrid, Santa Fe EREV, a new A-segment electric SUV for India and an all-new global B-segment SUV. Europe will also receive a new B-segment SUV.
The recently revealed all-new Tucson and Tucson Hybrid are scheduled to reach their first markets in the fourth quarter of 2026.
Hyundai is also looking beyond its existing segments. The company says categories where it is currently underrepresented account for around 29% of global automotive sales, with future products set to include body-on-frame vehicles, a midsize pick-up truck and light commercial vehicles.
Its high-performance N range will also expand with more models as Hyundai targets annual N sales of 100,000 units by 2030.
Electrification remains a major part of that expansion. Hyundai wants electrified vehicles to account for 60% of its global sales by 2030, up from 23% in 2025, while overall global sales are targeted to reach 5.55 million vehicles annually.
The company has also developed its own new battery cells, which it claims can deliver more than double the output of the high-nickel cells it previously used while reducing charging time by 40%. These cells will be used in Hyundai’s first EREV models.
Hyundai says its EREV architecture uses less than half the battery capacity of a comparable full EV while still targeting EV-like performance and driving characteristics.
Meanwhile, EVs launching from 2027 will begin using new mid-nickel NCM battery cells that Hyundai says can reduce battery costs by around 30%. Its cloud-based battery management system is also being developed to extend battery life by an average of 20% by 2028.
Genesis will follow a similar strategy. The luxury brand will launch its first hybrid, the GV80 Hybrid, in the fourth quarter of 2026, while an EREV SUV targeting more than 640 miles, or around 1,030 km of total range, is planned for early 2027. The GV90 will serve as the brand’s new flagship SUV.
On the technology side, Hyundai plans to introduce Level 2+ assisted driving on its first mass-produced software-defined vehicle in 2028 through its collaboration with Nvidia.
Its Atria AI autonomous driving system will progressively expand from Level 2+ towards Level 4 capability over time.
To support the wider expansion, Hyundai intends to add another 1.27 million units of global manufacturing capacity by 2030, including 500,000 units in North America, 320,000 in India, 250,000 across its CKD operations and 200,000 in Korea.
The overall target is 5.55 million global vehicle sales by 2030, representing an estimated 6% share of the global automotive market.
