A video allegedly showing Director-General of the Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS), Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain went viral, with the individual appearing to scold another person and hold the person’s head in a somewhat forceful manner.
Harian Metro reported that Mohd Shuhaily said he was prepared to make sacrifices and “pay a heavy price” to bring about change, but hoped the situation would not have a negative impact on his team.

Mohd Shuhaily said he had already met with the country’s top government leaders, including representatives from the Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN), to explain what happened.
“I am not perfect, and today, I am standing here ready to face the consequences. To me, bringing about change comes at a price, so whatever decision the government makes, I will accept it. If that price is me, then I am willing to pay it,” he said.
AKPS has also addressed the incident at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) Terminal 1, which occurred on 28 September, explaining that the video was recorded by two individuals who were not part of the operations team and had entered the baggage area without the officers’ knowledge.
The agency said the individuals recorded an interview between Mohd Shuhaily and a foreign national without permission.
The pair later lodged separate police reports, while Mohd Shuhaily also filed a report over the allegations, recording and circulation of the video, which he claimed could have been intended to damage his reputation and that of AKPS.

He does not want KLIA security to become like Selayang
In a different development, Mohd Shuhaily stressed that he does not want security at Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) to deteriorate to the point where it resembles the situation in Selayang.
Commenting on the syndicate involving foreign nationals at KLIA, he said the move was part of efforts to strengthen security and control measures at the country’s entry points.

According to Utusan Malaysia, Mohd Shuhaily said there was a strong reason behind the government’s decision to establish AKPS by bringing six agencies under one umbrella.
Speaking at a special press conference yesterday (1 October), he also expressed his appreciation for the support received as AKPS continues its efforts to strengthen security at the country’s entry points, including KLIA.
“I do not want KLIA to become like Selayang. I do not want to let things reach the point where it becomes like Selayang.
“The government established us for a reason, not just for the sake of it,” he added.
