PETALING JAYA: In taking a marriage proposal to soaring heights, Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has finally announced his engagement to local celebrity Bella Astillah today.
Taking to Tiktok, Syed Saddiq was seen in the viral video popping the question to Bella on top the summit of Mount Kinabalu.
@syedsaddiq I asked, she said yes 💍 Ini bukan pengakhiran cerita, ini permulaan kita. Dan hari ini majlis pertunangan kami, doakan. Bermula dengan kerjasama biasa yang akhirnya meraih lebih RM6 juta untuk rakyat, tanpa sedar turut menyatukan dua hati. Allah SWT sebaik-baik perancang. “I asked, she said yes.
“This is not the end of our story, this is the beginning,” he captioned the video.
Their engagement ceremony will be held today, according to the video caption. The event will be broadcast live at 3.30pm on several Astro channels and social media platforms.
“What started out as a normal collaboration that garnered RM6 million for the rakyat unknowingly brought two hearts together,” he added in his caption.
The engagement announcement has now put an end to long-standing speculation about the couple’s status, which had captured public attention.
According to Malay Mail, the engagement was confirmed by the politician’s brother, Syed Abdullah Syed Abdul Rahman, also known as influencer Space Dollah, during a livestream on Friday (March 27).
Syed’s brother reportedly told viewers that he had been “keeping the secret”, leaving it to the couple to announce their engagement themselves.
Back in 2024, rumours of a romance between Syed and Bella began circulating online after they were announced as ambassadors for a fashion line. Since then, their relationship gradually developed into a close friendship that piqued public curiosity.
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim even joked with Bella about whether he would be invited to their wedding, to which she responded: “Insya-Allah”.
