A viral video by a foreign content creator praising Chandigarh has once again brought the spotlight on the city’s clean roads, greenery and planned infrastructure, with social media users calling it “India’s most liveable city”.

The video has been posted by Dominika Patalas Kalra (@domipatalas), a foreigner from Poland, who is said to have lived in India for over a decade.

In the now widely shared clip, Dominika is heard saying, “This is Chandigarh, India. I don’t know if I am in Beverly Hills or India,” while capturing tree-lined boulevards, luxury houses, high-end cars and neatly maintained cycling tracks.

The video shows Chandigarh’s trademark urban planning, wide roads, organised traffic movement, lush green gardens and low-rise architecture.

The foreigner also praises the city’s cleanliness and disciplined traffic culture.

Chandigarh is also otherwise known for the accessible police assistance, features that residents often cite as city’s biggest strengths.

Planned by renowned Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier, Chandigarh was conceived as India’s first modern planned city.

Built in the 1950s to serve as the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana, the city is known for its sector-based layout, abundant green cover and urban design.

Social media users flooded the comments section with pride, with many saying the city’s organised infrastructure makes it stand apart from most Indian urban centres. Others called Chandigarh “mini Europe” and “India’s Beverly Hills”.
