PETALING JAYA: A witness in the sexual harassment trial of Ebit Irawan Ibrahim Lew, also known as Ebit Lew, told the Tenom magistrates’ court yesterday she filed a police report to prevent more people from falling victim to the preacher.
The prosecution’s ninth witness said she and her husband did not plan on lodging a police report against Ebit initially.
“But when we saw the numerous pictures and videos being circulated online, we decided to lodge a police report because there were many victims,” she said, adding that Ebit is also a well-known preacher.
She was replying to a question by deputy public prosecutor Zahida Zakaria during examination before magistrate Nur Asyraf Zolhani.

Read more The witness, who is in her 40s, said she and her husband also talked about the Facebook posts by Mohd Fairuz Abu or Akhi Fairuz Al-Jengkawi, the prosecution’s first witness in the trial.
She said Akhi Fairuz was at the Bukit Aman police headquarters in Kuala Lumpur on Aug 7, 2021 when she lodged the police report, before she was taken to meet the prosecution’s third witness, Firdaus Wong.
She denied that Akhi Fairuz and Wong offered her any incentive to incriminate Ebit.
Ebit, 38, faces 11 charges, including outraging the modesty of a woman in her 40s by sending obscene words and images to her phone number through the WhatsApp application between March and June 2021.
The charges under Section 509 of the Penal Code provide a prison sentence of up to five years or a fine or both, if convicted.
The trial continues today.
