KUALA LUMPUR – Film director and rapper Wee Meng Chee, better known as Namewee, appeared at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters (IPD) last night to assist with the ongoing investigation into the death of a Taiwanese influencer, who was found dead on October 22.

The 42-year-old artist shared a post on Facebook, explaining that he had just arrived in Kuala Lumpur from Johor Bahru.

"I have now arrived at the police headquarters and will fully cooperate with the authorities in the investigation so that the public and the victim's family can get the clarification they deserve," Namewee wrote.

"I will not run away. In the seven times I have been called by the authorities, I voluntarily presented myself to provide my statement. I have never run away," he added.

Reports earlier this week revealed that police are conducting a thorough investigation into the 31-year-old influencer's death, with the possibility of detaining Namewee as part of the inquiry. It is understood that he was the last person seen with the victim before the incident.

The police have confirmed that they will request a remand order for Namewee to assist in the investigation. Dang Wangi District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Sazalee Adam, stated that Namewee will be remanded this morning.

"To inform, Namewee will be remanded this morning at the Dang Wangi District Police Headquarters to assist in the investigation," he said in a statement today.
