The motherly and kind-hearted action of a Malaysian policewoman warmed the hearts of netizens recently after a photo of her giving a bath to a young son of a detainee at the Bentong Police Station in Bentong, Pahang went viral online.
Shared by the Friends of PDRM Facebook page on Tuesday (13 February), the post has gotten over 3,800 reactions as of the time of writing, with many commenters praising the policewoman for treating the child kindly as if he was her own son.
In the post, Friends of PDRM attached a candid photo of the policewoman with the boy at the Bentong Police Station while carefully cleaning him up and giving him a bath.
The caption reads,
“Thank you Akak Polis… Even though he’s not your own child… It’s the responsibility of a police officer to prepare all the facilities for a child after their mother is detained under a commercial crime offence.”
“A child’s welfare is safeguarded before they are sent to the welfare department… Credit to the Bentong Police Station personnel… Police and society are intertwined. Salute PDRM ”
Concerned about the child’s well-being
As shared by the Bahasa Melayu portal Sinar Harian, the policewoman has been identified as 35-year-old Lance Corporal Siti Sarah Ariffin. She shared that the child was brought to the Bentong Police Station after his mother was arrested in Cheras for a commercial crime and brought to Bentong Prison.
Siti Sarah asserted,
“I sympathised with the child after seeing him being so unkempt. I was on duty when a man told me that he was a friend of his mother and handed over the boy to her so that he could be sent to the Department of Social Welfare Malaysia (JKM).”
The concerned policewoman added that the boy’s condition was really unkempt and showed signs of autism on top of not being able to speak.
She then immediately cleaned up the boy and gave him a bath. She then put disposable diapers on him and changed him to new clothes bought by Corporal Ahmad Fathi Abdillah.

Siti Sarah added,
“I was concerned seeing his condition and imagined my own children at home… His diapers were unchanged for days. Besides cleaning him up, I also hand-feed him food and drinks,”
Since then, the boy has been sent to JKM, with Siti Sarah contacting the man who brought the child to the police station every day to ask about his well-being. She said that she was really concerned about the boy and breathed a sigh of relief after she was told that the boy had been sent to JKM.

In the comments section of the Friends of PDRM post, many Malaysians thanked Siti Sarah for going beyond the call of duty and for treating the boy like her own child.
One commenter said that the Lance Corporal’s actions and demeanour are the best example for other police personnel in the country. Meanwhile, another commenter prayed that Siti Sarah could get good karma and get a promotion in the uniform body soon.
Besides that, one commenter prayed that the boy could grow up to become successful in spite of all the adversities.
