Calls for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to resign are growing louder, but PMX made it clear he has no intention of stepping down.

“I’m not stepping down. I don’t steal anyone’s money. If I did, I would step down.”

He added that in nearly three years as Prime Minister, no contracts or projects have been awarded through direct negotiations.

Anwar also addressed the opposition, saying they are free to challenge his position through proper democratic channels.

“Pull in as many Members of Parliament as you can. If I lose, I will resign. I’ll step down peacefully.”

Speaking at the Teluk Kumbar Civil Complex ceremony near Bayan Lepas yesterday (July 19), Anwar emphasised the importance of maintaining peace, “This is a peaceful country, so preserve the peace. Other countries are struggling right now.”

He reiterated that he is simply doing his job as Prime Minister to serve the people. In response to the recent “Turun Anwar” slogan, he stressed that the people’s mandate must be respected unless changed through legal means.

“Wait for the next general election. I haven’t decided on the date, but for now, let’s keep the peace.”

Addressing recurring allegations against him, Anwar said those issues are no longer relevant after nearly three years in office. He also made it clear that he will not defend anyone found guilty of wrongdoing.

“If a leader has RM100 million in wealth, they will have to answer for it during the investigation.”

A “Turun Anwar” rally is scheduled for July 26 at Merdeka Square, with over 15,000 people expected to attend.
