KUALA KUBU BAHARU – Soon-to-be assemblywoman Pang Sock Tao is now on a mission to find a home here, following her victory in the by-election tonight.

During a press conference at Hulu Selangor Umno headquarters, she said she had been living in the constituency throughout the duration of the poll’s campaign period.

“Throughout the campaign, I have lived here (in Kuala Kubu Baharu). Now, I am finding a home, and I will move here!” she said and was met with deafening cheers from campaigners and party members here.

As an assemblywoman, she said she would listen to the locals and identify their pain points, vowing to solve them and maintain the people’s welfare.

“I am a representative to all Kuala Kubu Baharu residents, irrespective of race, religion, and political background.”

Also present during the press conference were Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, Selangor DAP chairman Gobind Singh Deo, and Selangor Umno chairman Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin.

Amirudin said PH’s victory showed that the multiracial voters still had faith in the unity government and did not want a “divisive agent” representing them.

Similarly, Gobind said winning the seat was an endorsement of Amirudin’s leadership of Selangor. He also said Pang’s work as a representative has begun.

The Election Commission confirmed that she secured the Kuala Kubu Baharu seat with a majority of 3,869 votes against Perikatan Nasional’s Khairul Azhari Saut.

She also defeated Parti Rakyat Malaysia’s Hafizah Zainudin and independent candidate Nyau Ke Xin.

Polling day today had a 61.51% voter turnout. – May 11, 2024
