Anyway, the voting public applaud him for being one of those rare politicians who are not afraid to take responsibility immediately after an incident.
Many, if not majority of politicians in this country, are too afraid to take commit and take responsibility.
Probably because they already know that they are going to break their commitment.
99% of them would parry off any responsibility by saying wait for the investigation to conclude before they will respond and by the time the investigation is concluded, they will conveniently, divert public attention to the conclusion of the reports and not to their failing as the leader that oversees the particular issue.
Do not think that your willingness to take responsibility will diffuse public anger and allows you control the narrative thereafter.
It is obvious that you are saying the bare minimum to get the enraged public off your back.
This is not the 1st time on the rail issue.
Similarly for the frequent breakdown in services and facilities in KLIA.
After you come out blazing on every incident, those overseeing and in charge of the rail and KLIA go out and make the same mistakes.
And your words start to feel real hollow.
Do you really feel like it is on you?
And those responsible in managing it explained it away to you that those things happened and it was just bad luck or a bad scheme or someone else not doing their job?
True accountability means much more than offering a mere apology.
It requires tangible, often painful, consequences and proactive reforms.
Being responsible is not the same thing as being accountable.
Being accountable means you are answerable and willing to accept the outcomes or results of a project or activity.
Responsibility goes much further.
Almost every of the politician we have in this country have an incredibly weak relationship with commitment.
Our politicians break commitments to themselves all the time and they perpetually lie to themselves.
What more to the ordinary voters.
When they can’t trust themselves to do what they tell the voters that they are going to do, the voters can’t expect them to make any real decisions.
Thus, most of the time many issues important to the ordinary voters stay in a state of indecision, in a weak and powerless state.
Elevate your response and do better next time.
Luckily none of the incidents that happened did not result in any fatalities.
Otherwise, taking full responsibility means you have to step down from your position.
