Founded in 1945, the International Air Transport Association (IATA), has been a pioneer in standardizing processes, implementing safety regulations & fostering cooperation among airlines and international authorities. It is one of the most influential organizations in the world of aviation and logistics. One of IATA's key pillars is fostering cooperation among airlines. Through forums, meetings, seminars & committees, the organization facilitates the exchange of information and the coordination of efforts to solve common challenges. This collaboration enables airlines to share best practices leading to increased safety and operational efficiency as well as optimize routes and connections, thus, enhancing passenger pleasant experience and global connectivity. I remember during my tenure as Manager of Management Development with Malaysia Airlines (MAS), we actively represented through various initiatives aimed at training and education. IATA Training Division offers programs and certifications to enhance the quality in all the segments of air transport skills. Through joint projects designed to optimize operations and improve the efficiency of flight ops, logistics, customer service and management development.

Currently, as Chairman of Persatuan Aeroangkasa Myaerosatu, I continue to keep track with IATA management development in leading and serving the airline industry. Willie Walsh, who became Director General in April 2021 after serving as CEO at International Airlines Group (IAG), has taken the IATA's mission at heart. Welsh took on the role when the world's airlines were still deep in the pandemic crisis and reeling from financial losses. Travel restriction remained in many regions & nobody could say with certainty if or when air travel demand would return. At the Boston's 77th AGM, beyond consideration feat of staging a large, in-person event, the most significant achievement was the passage of a resolution to achieve net-zero carbon emissions by 2050.

For MyAerosatu, the leadership has a long list of priorities that will be rightly steered & resolved by those in the Executive Committee & Advisory Council.
