SHAH ALAM: The Selangor Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU) will help process applications from Petaling Jaya residents, including requests for assistance and contributions, following Lee Chean Chung’s resignation as the area’s Member of Parliament, PKR information chief Fahmi Fadzil said today.
Fahmi, who is also Communications Minister, said services for the constituency would continue through several channels, including PKR’s local leadership, state assemblymen and councillors.

“We have the branch chief, we have assemblymen and we have councillors.
“The ICU will also help to ensure that any applications, including for contributions and so on, can be handled by the Selangor ICU,” he said.
Fahmi said this after officiating the Program MADANI Kita (PMK) Kota Anggerik @ Shah Alam at Dewan Melati, Section 7, here today.
Also present were Selangor youth, sports and entrepreneurship committee chairman Mohd Najwan Halimi, who is also Kota Anggerik assemblyman, and Shah Alam MP Azli Yusof.
Asked about Lee’s departure, Fahmi said the former Petaling Jaya MP had not attended party meetings or programmes for some time, including PKR’s recent national congress in Melaka.
“That is his choice. We respect his choice.
“But as stated by the Prime Minister (Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim), who is also PKR president, services to the people, especially in the Petaling Jaya parliamentary constituency, will continue,” he said.
Lee announced yesterday that he was resigning unconditionally as Petaling Jaya MP with immediate effect after receiving notice on Sept 30 that PKR had suspended his membership for three years.
He said he had formally submitted his resignation letter to Dewan Rakyat Speaker Tan Sri Johari Abdul on Oct 1, while the Petaling Jaya Parliamentary Service Centre would remain open to serve residents. Bernama reported that Lee’s resignation took effect on Oct 2.
Lee also said he would formally submit his resignation from PKR on Monday.
Anwar said yesterday that Lee had not been involved in party affairs for about a year and had stopped attending party meetings and congresses.
He also rejected Lee’s claim that allocations for Petaling Jaya had been withheld, saying development projects in the constituency would continue despite Lee’s resignation as MP.
