At least three people were killed and seven others were injured in a shooting at an In-N-Out restaurant in Idaho, officials confirmed as they released the name of the gunman.
Chad Williams, 24, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound after opening fire near the recently opened In-N-Out in Twin Falls, a city of about 56,000 people located roughly 130 miles southeast of Boise, Twin Falls Police Chief Matthew Hicks confirmed Sunday.
Authorities are confident that Williams acted alone. Among the seven injured are two patients who were treated and released from the hospital, three who remain hospitalized in stable condition and two in critical condition. Authorities said they would not yet be releasing the identities of the victims.
One of the people killed was an associate at In-N-Out, the chain’s president, Lynsi Snyder, said earlier Sunday.
Authorities also confirmed during Sunday’s press conference that an off-duty state trooper and citizen actively engaged the suspect by returning gunfire toward him. “We believe their actions helped drive the suspect away from the scene, preventing further casualties,” Hicks said.
The FBI has established a tip line for the public to submit photos and videos related to the shooting.
