It’s been slightly over a decade since Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 disappeared, leaving the family members and loved ones of the passengers and crew members without closure.
Since then, there have been countless efforts to locate the missing aeroplane, but to no avail.
Prime Minister Dato Seri Anwar Ibrahim has taken to his social media pages to announce that the government will pay ‘explorer fees’ to those who can locate MH370.
“We owe it to the people too. So, we say that at least we convince them. If they find (MH370), we’ll pay. If they don’t find (MH370), we won’t pay. This is the position, whether there is a compelling case or evidence. I don’t believe there is,” he said.
Additionally, he believes that the government needs to be responsible for how it spends taxpayer money on the search for MH370.
He wrote, “More than a decade after Malaysia Airlines flight MH370 disappeared from radars, there are still many questions and mysteries that have yet to be solved. In my view, the government needs to balance the need to find MH370, but at the same time ensure the best value for the people’s money.”
“Not only the family and heirs, but the people also have the right to get answers to all of their questions and therefore, the government will provide full cooperation if the search succeeds and yields the long-awaited results.”
