If Rapid KL is part of your everyday life; your work commute, your campus routine or even your weekend city adventures, here is something important to note.

Prasarana has announced a new price adjustment for several Rapid KL travel passes starting 1 January 2026.

But don’t worry, this isn’t just a price hike story. It is part of a bigger plan to make public transport more stable and reliable for you in the long run.

To make things easier, here is a quick breakdown of what actually matters.

1. Why are prices changing?

Prasarana says the adjustment comes after years of network expansion. If you’ve noticed smoother commutes, more routes and better coverage, that is because:

  • New rail lines were added in recent years
  • Bus routes expanded to more neighbourhoods
  • Service frequency and reliability improved

All of this requires higher operating and maintenance costs so the new prices help keep the entire system consistent, safe and dependable for daily riders.

In short: they want your commuting experience to stay stable.

2. A new pass for heavy riders: Rapid Bulanan (RM150)

If you’re someone who rides almost every day, this might be the biggest lifestyle upgrade for you.

Rapid Bulanan

  • Unlimited 30 day rides
  • RM150 for all users (Malaysians & non Malaysians)
  • Works across all Rapid KL rail and bus services

No more topping up. No more calculating daily rates. Just tap and go for the whole month.

3. My50 stays the Same (RM50 for Malaysians Only)

Great news for Malaysians: My50 remains unchanged at RM50 for 30 days of unlimited rides.

If My50 is part of your monthly routine, nothing changes for you in 2026.

4. Here are the updated pass prices you’ll see in 2026

These changes start 1 January 2026. Check which one you usually use:

Rapid Kota (Malaysians only)

• 1 Day: RM10
• 3 Day: RM25
• 2 Day pass discontinued

Rapid Kembara

• 1 Day: RM25
• 3 Day: RM55
• 2 Day pass discontinued

Rapid Keluarga (Malaysians only)

• RM30

Rapid Pelajar

  • Malaysian students keep their concession
  • Non Malaysian students get 50 percent discount until pass expiry or 31 December 2026
  • New applications from 2026 onward limited to Malaysian students

Rapid Bulanan (New!)

  • RM150
  • Unlimited 30 day travel

4. Some passes are staying the same

If you currently use these, nothing changes:

  • My50
  • Rapid Emas
  • Rapid Mesra

These concessions remain untouched to keep public transport affordable for those who need it most.

5. How this affects your daily routine

Think about your current travel habits:

  • Do you ride every day?
  • How much do you spend monthly?
  • Are you a student or family user?

Depending on your lifestyle, the new structure might actually make things easier.

For example:

  • Heavy users may save more with Rapid Bulanan
  • Students keep their discounts
  • Families still have an affordable RM30 group option

Overall, the aim is to make your daily commute smoother, more predictable and easier to budget.
