KUALA LUMPUR: Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Tan Sri Razarudin Husain has extended condolences on behalf of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to the family of former IGP Tun Mohammed Hanif Omar, who died this morning.

“May his soul be blessed and placed among the pious and righteous,” he said in a post on PDRM’s official Facebook page today.

Razarudin said that the late Mohammed Hanif was the fourth IGP and held the position for 20 years, from 1974 until his retirement in January 1994.

He said that Mohammed Hanif, 85, died from kidney disease, and the former IGP’s son Abdul Rahmat Omar confirmed that his father breathed his last at 2.15 am at his residence in Shah Alam, Selangor.

It is learned that Mohammed Hanif’s remains will be laid to rest at the Heroes’ Mausoleum at the National Mosque after zuhur prayers today.
