THE Inspector-General of Police,Tan Sri Razarudin Husain, has been granted leave by the High Court to proceed for the third time with contempt of court proceedings against blogger Papagomo.
The decision was delivered by Judicial Commissioner Gan Techiong following ex-parte submissions by Razarudin’s counsel, Raam Kumar, during a hearing earlier today.
In his latest committal application, Razarudin seeks punitive action against Papagomo for releasing a video on 1 May, just one day after issuing a public apology to both the court and the IGP on 30 April. The apology was part of a previous settlement in a defamation lawsuit.
The video in question, posted to social media, featured Papagomo reading aloud his courtroom apology while background music from the P. Ramlee classic ‘Pendekar Bujang Lapok’ played.
Razarudin described the presentation as a "mockery" and said it demonstrated insincerity.
"The publication of the video shows that Papagomo was not remorseful for breaching the injunction. He only apologised to the court and to me to give a false impression," said Razarudin.
He further asserted that the blogger's actions suggested he had deceived the court into accepting the apology, undermining the integrity of judicial proceedings.
Razarudin also took issue with Papagomo’s portrayal of the situation, claiming the blogger falsely suggested that the IGP had maliciously sought his imprisonment at Sungai Buloh Prison.
"The statements made by the defendant in the video contradict both the written and oral apology that was agreed upon and read in court on 30 April as part of the committal order," he said.
According to Razarudin, the breach constitutes contempt of court and is grounds for committal proceedings.
The public apology in question was related to a RM3 million defamation suit filed by Razarudin, which also involved allegations concerning Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim. - May 16, 2025
