Works Ministry has given approval to IJM Corporation for the New Pantai Expressway (NPE) Extension and a new toll restructuring plan for said highway.

In a statement, IJM announced that its Infrastructure Toll Division – which oversees its highway projects – will handle the entire project. The upcoming NPE Extension is expected to cost around RM1.4 Billion and will span 15 KM as a fully elevated highway, complete with new ramps.

This extension aims to reduce traffic congestion and improve travel links across the Klang Valley.

The project will be fully financed by the concessionaire, with no financial support from the government. Construction is set to start in the third quarter of this year, and is scheduled to open to the public by 2029.

Meanwhile, as part of the toll restructuring plan, IJM confirmed that existing toll rates on the current NPE will remain unchanged until the end of its concession period.

According to IJM’s CEO and MD, Datuk Lee Chun Fai, the Work Ministry's approval is a major step forward in boosting urban transport in the region.

He also highlighted that the new extension will include advanced infrastructure such as the Multi-Lane Fast Flow (MLFF) toll system, smart street lighting, real-time CCTV surveillance and a rest area with EV fast-charging stations.

IJM emphasised its commitment to working closely with the Works Ministry and other relevant agencies to ensure smooth project delivery, while also maintaining open communication with stakeholders throughout the process.
