SEBERANG PERAI: Islamic travel platform ikhlas.com is helping social media personality Budak 46, whose real name is Muhammad Ammar Zulkha Helmy, fulfil his lifelong dream of performing umrah and seeing the Kaabah.
Ammar, who is known for his slow-motion videos on social media, has been diagnosed with retinitis pigmentosa, an eye condition that can cause progressive loss of vision.
After learning of his wish to perform umrah, the ikhlas.com team travelled to Penang to surprise him with an Umrah Premium Winter Package, with the pilgrimage scheduled for November.
The surprise was initially presented as a product review, with Ammar invited to review an ikhlas.com luggage set for his TikTok channel.
However, the visit soon turned into an emotional moment when he was told that the company would sponsor his umrah pilgrimage.
M Iqbal Hanif Mohamed Rusdi, head mutawif and Shariah adviser of ikhlas.com, said the visit was intended to deliver more than a content collaboration.
“Ammar had long prayed for the opportunity to perform umrah and today, we’re happy to deliver the news that he will be a guest of Allah and that his dream and prayers will become a reality.”
He said Ammar’s father, Helmy Salleh, would also accompany him after being invited by ikhlas.com to join the pilgrimage.
“This is to ensure Ammar can perform his umrah with greater comfort and peace of mind throughout the journey,” he said.
Ammar said he was grateful for the opportunity, particularly as he hoped to see the Kaabah while he still had his sight.
“My dream has always been to perform umrah and see the Kaabah while I still have my sight. Even if one day I lose my vision, I will always be grateful for everything Allah has blessed me with.”
His mother, Asmah Wati Ramli, said her greatest wish was for her son to see the Kaabah with whatever vision he still had.
“We are grateful to ikhlas.com for making this dream possible and giving our family this precious opportunity,” she said.
