Haryana Transport Minister Anil Vij on Monday said no obstruction in passenger movement, cleanliness or safety at bus stands across the state will be tolerated anymore.
He further said strict action will be taken against illegal encroachments, additional counters, hawkers and unauthorised activities at bus stands.
He informed that directions have been issued for all bus stands in the state with the objective of preventing encroachments and ensuring better facilities for passengers.
These directions have been issued by the Director General of the Transport Department to all General Managers of Haryana Roadways in compliance with the directions given during a recent meeting chaired by the Transport Minister.
Vij said bus stands are meant for public convenience, and therefore any hindrance affecting passenger movement, cleanliness or safety will not be accepted. He reiterated that strict action would be taken against illegal occupations, extra counters, hawkers and unauthorised activities at bus stands.
As per the issued directions, no shopkeeper, vendor or any other person will be allowed to encroach upon platforms, roads, footpaths, waiting areas or any public space at bus stands.
Shop-related materials such as racks, refrigerators, crates, tables, benches, signboards or any other items will be permitted only within the allotted shop area.
Apart from this, temporary stalls, hawkers, unauthorized vendors and additional counters outside shops have been completely prohibited. Shopkeepers have also been instructed not to create any obstruction in the movement of passengers, buses, emergency vehicles or sanitation activities.
The Transport Minister further said strict action would also be taken against those installing unauthorized electrical appliances or illegal electricity connections without permission. He directed the concerned officials to ensure regular inspections at bus stands and immediately report any encroachment or violation to higher authorities.
Vij said that immediate action will be taken against violators, and encroachments will be removed immediately. If required, penalties, cancellation of shop allotments, sealing of shops and confiscation of goods may also be carried out as per rules.
