KENINGAU: An illegal immigrant in his 30s has been arrested in connection with a burglary, here.

Keningau District Police Chief, Supt Yampil Anak Garai, said the suspect resided at Angkasa Apartment, Manggatal. He was was detained on Aug 7.

The victim reported the loss of numerous items including a Longchamp handbag, personal identification cards belonging to herself and her child, ATM and credit cards, a set of house keys, a Michael Kors wristwatch, a Samsung tablet without a SIM card, a Huawei mobile phone without a SIM card, and cash amounting to RM250. The estimated total loss is approximately RM4,000.

The incident occurred around 12.30am, when the victim’s son noticed the side door of their house was open. Upon inspection, they found the door had been pried open and several valuables were missing.

CCTV footage reviewed by the police showed the suspect breaking into the house and removing the stolen items.

The e suspect admitted his involvement in the burglary and revealed that he acted together with accomplices who remain at large.

According to Yampil, the criminal activities were targeted at houses where the lights were dim. The case is classified under Section 457 of the Penal Code.
