SEMPORNA: A group of people, believed to be illegal immigrants, jumped into the sea, to avoid being caught by security forces, here, on Friday.

A 39-second video of the incident went viral after a Facebook user uploaded it on her Facebook at about 10am.

It is believed that the people resorted to jumping into the waters as an operation was carried out in the area.

Commenting on the video, most of the netizens supported the action to flush out illegal immigrants while some said that the people’s action to flee from the operation means that they had committed something against the law.

The Sabah Immigration Department Director, Datuk Sitti Saleha Habib Yusoff when contacted, said the operation was led by the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) and assisted by her department in the operation against illegal immigrants.
