The Indian Medical Association (IMA), Haryana unit has strongly condemned the paper leak and repeated controversies surrounding the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026 examinations.

The Haryana body has expressed concern over the credibility of the medical entrance examination system and urged the Centre to take immediate and strict action against those responsible for the malpractice.

In a formal letter addressed to Dharmendra Pradhan, Union Minister of Education, IMA Haryana highlighted the growing anxiety and disappointment among students, parents and the medical fraternity due to repeated incidents of paper leaks in the NEET-UG.

The letter stated that such controversies have not been associated with JEE examinations and emphasised the urgent need to reform the existing examination system.

The association requested the government to conduct the NEET-UG entirely in online mode to ensure transparency and security.

They also appealed to conduct the examination twice a year, allowing students to improve their scores and reduce pressure arising from a single examination day.

“Repeated paper leaks are seriously affecting the morale and mental health of lakhs of hardworking students, who spend years preparing for competitive examinations. The deserving ones suffer due to negligence and corruption of a few involved in illegal activities. We request the government to take strict steps and stop such practices,” said Dr Sunila Soni, President of IMA Haryana.

The association also urged the NTA to enhance its infrastructure and technical prowess, aiming for the NEET-UG to transition into a fully computer-based test in the foreseeable future. Should a re-examination be necessary in the traditional pen-and-paper format, the IMA insisted on implementing robust measures to ensure that paper leaks and other irregularities are completely prevented. She, alongside other officials, called for strict penalties for everyone implicated in undermining the integrity of the examination process.
