Kota Kinabalu: The Sabah Public Works Department (PWD) has ordered the immediate closure of the bridge at KM2.850 along Jalan Tun Fuad Stephens after an inspection revealed serious structural damage to its concrete slab.
The closure took effect at noon on Friday (July 31) to ensure the safety of road users, according to a notice issued by Sabah Public Works director Baharuhom KK Sogon.
The closure affects only the carriageway leading from Kota Kinabalu city to Likas Bay.
Baharuhom said the route will be reopened once construction of a temporary diversion is completed.
Motorists are advised to use alternative routes during the closure period. The department apologized for any inconvenience caused.
