The Negeri Sembilan branch of the Immigration Department (JIMNS) conducted a rigorous three-day operation in Kuala Pilah from June 28, resulting in the inspection of 315 foreigners and the detention of 142 illegal immigrants.

According to JIMNS director Kennith Tan Ai Kiang, the 142 individuals were apprehended across 34 different premises. The operation involved 21 JIMNS personnel, who detained 26 Myanmar nationals (23 men and three women); six Pakistani men; 71 Indonesians (54 men and 17 women); 32 Bangladeshi men; five Cambodians (one man and four women); and two men from India. These individuals were aged between 21 and 54.

"Most of the illegal immigrants are believed to have moved from Seremban to Kuala Pilah due to intensified operations in Seremban and Nilai," Kennith Tan stated in a press release. During the operation, some illegal immigrants attempted to evade capture by escaping or hiding, leading to scuffles between some foreigners and Immigration officers at one of the premises.

“All those detained have been sent to the Lenggeng Immigration Depot in Nilai,” he added. Furthermore, 19 notices were issued to employers and caretakers of the premises, requiring them to report to JIMNS to assist in the ongoing investigations.

Kennith Tan noted that the 142 foreigners were detained for various violations of the Immigration Act 1959/63 and the Immigration Regulations 1963. He emphasized the department's commitment to enforcing immigration laws and ensuring that all residents comply with legal requirements.

This operation highlights the ongoing efforts by the Negeri Sembilan Immigration Department to curb illegal immigration and maintain law and order within the state. By targeting specific areas and conducting thorough inspections, JIMNS aims to address the challenges posed by illegal immigrants and ensure a safer community for all residents.

In conclusion, the recent operation in Kuala Pilah underscores the relentless efforts of the Negeri Sembilan Immigration Department to enforce immigration laws and tackle the issue of illegal immigrants in the region.
