A total of 139 people were detained on suspicion of being illegal immigrants (PATIs) following raids around Kuala Lumpur by the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM).
According to a Facebook post by the Selangor JIM, the raids, which were in collaboration with the Johor JIM and Putrajaya JIM, were carried out at several brothels in the country’s capital.
139 PATIs were detained during the operation
They wrote, “A Bangladeshi national who fled in a car with 4 women, suspected of being illegal immigrants, was detained by Putrajaya JIM, in collaboration with the Johor JIM in Operation Gegar, which was carried out at several prostitution premises around Jalan Petaling on Sunday, 7 December 2025.”
“The operation, which began at 11:30 AM, also involved raids at several other locations, including Jalan Imbi and Jalan Pudu. As a result of the operation, a total of 139 individuals suspected of being illegal immigrants (PATI) were successfully detained, including 112 women.”
In the raids, they found several 2-storey premises that had been renovated with small rooms for the purpose of carrying out prostitution activities.
13 brothels were shut down
BERNAMA, on the other hand, reported that during the raids, JIM uncovered 13 brothels that operated 24 hours a day. Local and foreign customers were allegedly offered sexual services for as low as RM60.
JIM has since assured that information regarding the brothels will be channelled to the appropriate authorities for further action.
