In a digital age where information spreads like wildfire, a recent TikTok video has ignited a fierce debate over the alleged covert conversion of minors to Islam. The Malaysian Consultative Council of Buddhism, Christianity, Hinduism, Sikhism, and Taoism (MCCBCHST) has raised a clarion call against what they term as an "immoral and illegal plan" orchestrated by preacher Firdaus Wong.

In the contentious video circulating on social media platforms, Firdaus Wong purportedly offers guidance to an individual on handling inquiries from teenagers seeking to embrace Islam. MCCBCHST, in a strongly-worded statement, condemns this practice, urging swift action from governmental authorities.

The council asserts that such covert conversions not only violate moral principles but also contravene constitutional rights enshrined in the Federal Constitution of Malaysia. According to MCCBCHST, a child's religious affiliation is a prerogative reserved for their parents, as outlined in Article 12(4) of the constitution. Encouraging minors to recite the "Kalimah Shahadah" without parental consent, as alleged in the video, constitutes a flagrant breach of this constitutional provision.

The gravity of this situation is underscored by the emotional turmoil that parents would undoubtedly experience upon discovering their child's clandestine conversion. MCCBCHST emphasizes the sanctity of parental authority in matters of religious upbringing, denouncing any attempt to subvert it.

Moreover, MCCBCHST warns of the implications of such covert conversions within educational institutions. Schools, traditionally regarded as bastions of knowledge and enlightenment, should not become arenas for proselytization. By infiltrating the educational domain, these covert tactics erode the trust between educators, parents, and students, thereby jeopardizing the sanctity of learning environments.

The outcry against Firdaus Wong's alleged actions transcends religious divides, uniting voices from various faith communities under the banner of safeguarding minors' rights. It is not merely a religious or legal issue but a moral imperative to uphold the fundamental liberties guaranteed to every individual, irrespective of their age or religious persuasion.

As the debate rages on, MCCBCHST implores legislators and policymakers to intervene decisively, putting an end to the clandestine conversion of minors and holding accountable those who perpetrate such actions. The protection of minors' rights should be sacrosanct, and any attempt to undermine it must be met with resolute opposition.
