After winning best picture at the 2025 Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF), “I’mPerfect, is winning over an even bigger audience.
The movie from Nathan Studios is now streaming on Netflix and has climbed to the top spot of the platform’s most-streamed movies in the Philippines.
The film also made history at the MMFF when its lead star Krystel Go won Best Actress, a milestone for representation of people with Down Syndrome in Philippine cinema.
At its heart, the film champions equality and inclusivity for people living with Down Syndrome. It reminds audiences that they deserve the same respect, rights, opportunities, dreams, and chance to live full and meaningful lives as everyone else.
For Nathan Studios’ actress-producer Sylvia Sanchez and CEO Ria Atayde-Marudo, seeing the movie reach more Filipino homes through Netflix makes the journey even more meaningful.
“When we were making the movie, all we wanted was for more people to see it so they could understand their world, hopes and abilities,” Sanchez said.
“They are not so different from us. They have hopes, they know how to love, want to work and be given a chance,” she added.
For Atayde-Marudo, their top ranking on Netflix gives the advocacy behind the movie an even wider platform.
“Every new person who watches ‘I’mPerfect’ helps carry its message forward. Inclusion is not about giving people with Down Syndrome special treatment. It is about making sure they are given the same dignity, opportunities, and freedom to dream that all of us deserve,” Atayde-Marudo said.
“Knowing that the film is now reaching audiences through Netflix makes us incredibly grateful because the conversation can continue far beyond its theatrical run.”
Written and directed by Sigrid Andrea Bernardo, “I’mPerfect” stars Krystel Go and Earl Amaba, two actors with Down Syndrome, at the center of a story about love, independence, family and the right to choose one’s own path. Now every stream can help keep that message alive.
