KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 22 — In a surprising turn of events, a robber decided to take an Uber to rob a bank as his driving licence has been suspended.
Upon reaching the targeted bank, Jason Christmas, 42, also made the Uber driver wait for him, Fox 2 Detroit reported.
He was later arrested by police who waited for him at his home in Southfield, Detroit.
"This is a very unusual way to commit an armed robbery in our city," Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren said.
According to police, the Uber driver, who was not aware of what Christmas did, sent him home after he committed the heist.
Police managed to track the Uber driver down based on the surveillance video from the bank but was cleared of any wrongdoing.
Barren speculated that Christmas was driven to commit the crime due to the festive season.
