
JOHOR BARU, Jan 19 — A youth arrested after a two-hour high-speed pursuit from a residential area in Adda Heights to the North-South Expressway on Tuesday was fined RM3,000 by the Magistrate's Court here today.
The accused, Muhammad Danish Izzuddin Mohd Sharpie, pleaded guilty after the charges against him were read before Magistrate Hidayatul Syuhada Samsuddin.
She also ordered the accused to be imprisoned for four months if he fails to pay the fine.
Based on the charge sheet, Muhammad Danish had prevented a civil servant from discharging his duties.
For that offence, he was charged in accordance with Section 186 of the Penal Code that was read with Section 34 of the same Act.
If convicted, Muhammad Danish can be imprisoned for up to two years or fined up to RM10,000, or both.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Nur Aqilah Ahmad Rofaif, while the accused was not represented.

Johor Baru South police chief Assistant Commissioner Raub Selamat said that the suspect was involved in a high speed pursuit for 75km.
Parts of the incident was captured in a 1-minute-and-15-second video that was disseminated on social media and created public attention.
