In-N-Out CEO reveals the region she will never expand to

The CEO of In-N-Out Burger has revealed which region of the United States the much-loved burger chain will never expand to. ​

The brand, which has become a favorite of Hollywood stars on Oscar night, has revealed it is adding six new restaurants in various parts of the country. The list of locations includes Commerce, Stockton and Irvine, California; San Tan Valley, Arizona; St George, Utah; and Twin Falls, Idaho. ​

However, CEO Lynsi Snyder says despite the California-based chain’s popularity that she does not believe they will ever head east. ​

“I don’t see us being on the East Coast in my lifetime,” Snyder said as part of the President’s Speaker Series at Pepperdine University. “We won’t compromise on quality just to expand.”​

During the same appearance at Pepperdine, Snyder said In-N-Out Burger would not offer online ordering and pickup services, in order to preserve the freshness of its meals and to maintain high customer-service standards.

In-N-Out, which has over 430 locations across 10 states, maintains strict policies to maintain the quality of its products, including not freezing its food.

The chain was co-founded by husband and wife Harry and Esther Snyder, the grandparents of the current CEO Lynsi Snyder, in 1948. Following Harry’s death, it passed down to his sons, known as Rich and Guy, the latter being Lynsi Snyder’s father.

Currently, In-N-Out offers meals in California, Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Utah, Texas, Nevada, Arizona, Colorado and Tennessee.​

Originating in California, the fast-food favorite has become a staple of Hollywood’s biggest night of the year, a tradition dating all the way back to Vanity Fair’s 1994 Oscar Party. ​

Celebrities including actor Donald Sutherland and fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg, noticed that staff at the party were given access to an In-N-Out Burger truck, Vanity Fair Director of Special Projects Sara Marks told Vogue.

When the attendees asked if they could have a burger, the food items were brought inside and the groundwork for the tradition was laid.

Years later, director Steven Spielberg shared a photograph of food from In-N-Out before tucking in that went viral.
