Away from the busy and buzzing shores of Thailand, Paradise Beach on Koh Kradan Island doesn't shout for attention. It is quiet, green, and wonderfully unhurried, making it one of the best beaches in the world, according to The World's 50 Best Beaches' latest ranking.

Thailand has no shortage of beaches, but Paradise Beach on Koh Kradan is unlike any beach in Thailand you have ever visited. Beyond the usual party scenes and crowded beaches in Phuket, Krabi or Koh Samui, this little secluded paradise is a dream come true for travellers seeking some quiet and peace. Paradise Beach on Koh Kradan doesn't rely on beach clubs or glossy resorts; it wins people over by being quiet, clear, and almost stubbornly unspoiled.

This is part of why it ranks No. 23 on The World's 50 Best Beaches list. The list is curated from thousands of votes by travel journalists, influencers, experts, and beach ambassadors. According to their ranking, Paradise Beach still feels like a beach first, and a destination second.

Thailand's most peaceful escape

There are multiple places and beaches in Thailand for partying. However, when it comes to spending some quiet time at the beach, there aren't many options, and that's why Paradise Beach stands out. Located on Koh Kradan Island in Trang Province, in the Andaman Sea, it is far off the beaten path and remains pristine. Much of the island lies within a protected marine area, and the beach keeps that same restrained feel.

This under-the-radar coastal escape has no roads or cars. There are only a small number of hotels tucked into the greenery, and the landscape is still untouched and raw. Reaching Paradise Beach is part of Koh Kradan's charm. You can take a boat from Trang to reach Koh Kradan. Once in Koh Kradan, the island is reached by long-tail boat or speedboat. The island is small, with little to no commercialisation, so even a one- or two-night stay is enough to experience it.

Why does Paradise Beach rank among the world's best?

The ranking makes sense if you see the beach. It is so far off the beaten path that it feels rare and secluded in a country with year-round tourism. The location gives it its value. It is framed by dense tropical forest, coconut palms, limestone outcrops, and white coral sand. Then there's the sea. The turquoise water is shallow and usually calm, making it perfect for swimming, snorkelling and kayaking. Protected by a reef, a section of this reef sits close enough to the beach that snorkelling is possible without a boat, a rare luxury for an island beach. The protected setting helps with water clarity and colour.

A major reason why Paradise Beach is on the list of best beaches in the world is the fact that it's secluded. Even when Koh Kradan gets busier, the beach is rarely crowded, preserving its charm and classic coastal elements. The beach asks you to slow down and enjoy the present moment rather than fill every hour with activities. It's spiritual, refreshing and just the kind of push you need on a holiday before diving back into your daily life.

Experiencing Paradise Beach

At first glance, Paradise Beach seems made for doing very little. In reality, its calm waters and protected coastline invite a slower kind of adventure. Let the day unfold slowly. You can swim when the tide is medium or high, and the sea is inviting. For adventure seekers, snorkelling near the reef is one of the best experiences. The water here is clear enough to make the marine life feel closer and more intimate. You can spot Parrotfish, Butterflyfish, Sergeant majors, Clownfish, Sea cucumbers, Giant clams, Hard and soft corals.

Under favourable conditions, underwater visibility can exceed 20 metres, making it one of the better shore-snorkelling locations in Trang Province. If the sea is calm, kayak your way through the beauty of the island. Visiting Paradise Beach on Koh Kradan is also about timing. For the best experience, visit the beach when there's little wind, clear skies, calm seas and a medium or high tide.
