Kota Kinabalu: Datuk Dr Roland Chia Ming Shen officiated at the closing ceremony of the Inanam Christmas Celebration.
It was jointly organised by the Inanam Council of Churches led by Bro Paul Chong and Menggatal Council of Churches led by Dr Jidon @ Adrian Janaun.
The event was held at the Inanam Car Park Open Space and supported by the Dewan Bandaraya Kota Kinabalu and Sabah Council of Churches.
The Christmas celebration, themed “Saviour”, was held on Dec 1-3, which saw participation of churches from different denominations from Kolombong, Inanam, Menggatal and Telipok (KIMT).
Inanam Christmas Celebration started 10 years ago in 2013 with the purpose of bringing churches from Kolombong, Inanam, Menggatal and Telipok together to celebrate Christmas.
Chia, who is also Political Secretary to the Chief Minister of Sabah, reiterated that the State Government is always being supportive of churches, temples, Chinese and Mission schools and private kindergartens of non-Muslim bodies.
This was reflected by the recent announcement by the Minister of Finance of Sabah in the 2024 budget of RM56.07 million allocated to non-Muslim bodies.
