The Income Tax (I-T) Department, Shimla Range, under the guidance of the Principal Commissioner of Income Tax-1, Chandigarh, organised a highly impactful outreach programme focusing on the transition from the Income Tax Act, 1961 to the new Income Tax Act, 2025.

The programme commenced with a welcome address by Income Tax Officer Kapil Nirwan, Ward-1, Shimla. This was followed by an address by Keshav Kishore Anand, Range Head and Joint Commissioner of Income Tax, who interacted with and addressed various stakeholders. The main presentation was delivered by Circle Office official Narender Chahal, who highlighted the key features and provisions of the new Act.

During the presentation, participants were provided with informative material and important links to facilitate interactive learning sessions on the salient features of the new legislation. A specially designed comic book aimed at educating children about taxation concepts was also showcased, making the session more engaging and accessible.

The programme witnessed participation from a wide range of stakeholders, including taxpayers, hoteliers from Shimla, government undertakings, professionals from CA associations and advocate associations, as well as media representatives.

Following the presentation, participants shared their feedback through feedback forms. The official AI chatbot of the Income Tax Department was also demonstrated, enabling attendees to understand its practical utility and features.

In his concluding vote of thanks, Sunil Kumar, Assistant Commissioner of Income Tax, Circle Shimla, highlighted the revised structure and provisions of the Income Tax Act, ensuring greater clarity and understanding among all participants.
