A video making the rounds on social media recently showing a man behaving indecently at KLIA2 has prompted an official police response, and the backstory behind it is as strange as the footage itself.
The incident unfolded at the MyBorder counter in the international arrivals area of KLIA2 at around 9.50pm on March 6.
The man, a 44-year-old Indian national, was seen scratching his right thigh, in the process causing his trousers to slip down.
The exposure lasted approximately two minutes before airport staff stepped in, pulled him up on his behaviour and assisted him in getting his clothing back in order.
He had been stranded since the night before
KLIA district police chief ACP Ravi Munusamy, in addressing the incident, revealed that the man had actually missed a flight the previous evening, a departure scheduled for 8.45pm on March 5 after falling asleep and failing to make it to his gate in time.
By the time the incident at the MyBorder counter occurred, he had already been at the airport for over 24 hours.
No police report filed, family were contacted
Despite the video gaining traction online, ACP Ravi confirmed that no official report has been lodged in connection with the incident as of the time of the police statement.
Arrangements are currently being made for the man to be handed over to the Indian High Commission, with airline representatives having already reached out to his family members to facilitate the process.
ACP Ravi also took the opportunity to remind members of the public that proper conduct is expected in shared spaces, particularly at high-traffic locations such as airports.
