UFA: Four Indian students were among those injured in a knife attack at a medical university dormitory in Russia’s Bashkortostan region.

The Indian embassy in Moscow confirmed the “unfortunate incident” occurred in the city of Ufa, located approximately 1,100 kilometres east of the capital.

Russian investigators stated that a 15-year-old individual attacked students with a knife.

Several students and police officers were wounded during the incident at the student accommodation.

The country’s Investigative Committee has initiated a criminal case into alleged official negligence.

Authorities knew about behavioural issues concerning one of the students but failed to take preventive measures, the committee said.
