
Kota Kinabalu: Chief Minister Datuk Seri Panglima Haji Hajiji Haji Noor welcomed a plan by India's premier higher learning institution, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM) to spread its wing to Sabah.
"Sabah, through the University College Sabah Foundation (UCSF), is also looking at the possibility of forging an academic collaboration with IITM," said Hajiji, who is UCSF Chancellor, according to a statement.
He said this while meeting with IITM Global Engagement Chief Executive Officer Dr Thirumalai Madhavnarayan and Dean of IITM Global Engagement Prof Raghunathan Remgaswamy.
They were accompanied by Petra Group and Sekhar Foundation Chairman Datuk Seri Dr Vinod Sekhar at Menara Kinabalu, here, Wednesday.
During the meeting, the Chief Minister was briefed by the delegation that IITM was exploring the possibility of establishing its first Asian campus outside India.
