JAKARTA - Indonesia will raise citizenship-application fees on August 1 to Rp25 million for marriage-based applications and Rp75 million for general naturalisation under Government Regulation No. 30 of 2026, signed by President Prabowo Subianto on July 2.
The regulation was promulgated in Jakarta on July 2 and takes effect 30 days later. The marriage-based charge rises from Rp15 million, an increase of about 66.7%, and the general naturalisation fee rises from Rp50 million, or 50%.
The regulation sets new non-tax state revenue charges administered by the Ministry of Law following changes to the ministry’s organisational structure. It repeals the legal-service, intellectual-property and related Ministry of Law tariff categories contained in Government Regulation No. 45 of 2024.
Indonesia’s 2006 Citizenship Law states, “Naturalization means procedures for an alien to obtain citizenship of the Republic of Indonesia through application.”
A foreign spouse may submit a citizenship declaration after living in Indonesia for at least five consecutive years or 10 non-consecutive years, provided the change would not create dual nationality.

The Ministry of Law’s Bali office examined 46 applicants: two Italian citizens seeking general naturalisation and 44 applicants from mixed-nationality families. The latter group comprised 37 Japanese citizens, three US citizens, two German citizens, one Dutch citizen and one Italian citizen.
The latest official figures from the Directorate General of General Legal Administration showed that it received 147 naturalisation applications in 2025, of which two had been fully processed and accepted by February 26. In 2024, the directorate received 265 applications and accepted 20.
More than 700 foreign nationals still had applications in progress or were completing the required documents, the directorate added.
