
Kota Kinabalu: A 37-year-old Indonesian who had stayed in the State after his temporary work visit pass had expired for five years and 24 days, was jailed 12 months.
Sessions Court Judge Hurman Hussain meted out the sentence to Rianus Saru, who pleaded guilty to the charge against him.

He was arrested at 4.25pm on Jan 21 this year in front of the Alliance Bank building in Kundasang, Ranau.

The court ordered Rianus to serve the jail sentence from the date of his arrest and referred to the Immigration Department for further action after completing the sentence.

In the same court, four illegal immigrants were jailed four months each for entering the State illegally.

All of them admitted to the charge against them, respectively.
The illegal immigrants were arrested at the city area, recently after failing to produce their identification documents to the authority.
After serving the jail sentence, the illegal immigrants were ordered referred to the Immigration Department.
