Just last month, legendary and veteran Indonesian singer, Rossa announced that she would be performing on November 2 in Kuala Lumpur. The price of the tickets, however, sparked an online debate as it goes as high as RM5,000.
Just today (October 5), during a media conference, Rossa apologised to the people who think that the price is just too high for a concert.
“I really apologise if the ticket price to my concert is too expensive.”
However, the iconic Indonesian singer also clarified to the people where the proceeds will go to.
“It’s not just about the concert, it’s about giving something back to society”
Rossa explained to the media that while she does not deny the high price of the tickets, she said part of the proceeds will go to university students from low-income families to ease their burden.
“We know where the proceeds will go to. They will be given to the less fortunate students so that they can pursue their studies,” Rossa added.
In the meantime, she highlighted that the concert is not just meant to be pure entertainment, but it’s also about contributing to society.
“This is a charity that we’ve done for more than 10 years, and it’s a collaboration with Yayasan Prihatin Nasional.”
At the time of writing, more than 80% of the tickets have been sold.
Rossa is slated to perform in the 25 Shining Years Concert which is scheduled to take place in the Planetary Hall at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The singer is expected to perform as many as 27 songs, including tracks that were never performed in Indonesia, reported Astro Awani.
RM5,000 for a concert ticket is certainly not an amount that everyone can afford to pay. However, we’re happy to know about the direction of the proceeds as some less fortunate people are getting help through the money obtained from this event.
