PAPAR: A 21-year-old Indonesian tourist died and a few others injured after a tour van crashed along KM36 of Jalan Kimanis – Keningau, here, Thursday.
District Police Chief DSP Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said the incident occurred at about 5.30pm when the van, heading from Keningau to Kota Kinabalu, went out of control while going downhill.
“The van – ferrying 14 tourists – entered the opposite lane before hitting a hillside by the road. Due to the impact, the vehicle rolled a few times and stopped by the roadside,” he said.
Kamaruddin said the deceased suffered chest and leg injuries and was extricated by other passengers before he was rushed to Papar Hospital.
