LAHAD DATU: Collaboration between industry and educational institutions is seen as necessary, especially in Sabah, in efforts to enhance the ecosystem of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Mustapha Sakmud said to prepare graduates for current industry needs, industry involvement in the implementation of TVET education is very much needed, particularly in curriculum development, expertise sharing, training sponsorship and equipment contribution.

“This is in line with the Ministry of Higher Education’s Direction 2024 in the 10th Platform to establish meaningful cooperation between industry and higher education institutions.

“Besides signing memorandums of understanding between the government and industry, this commitment is also translated through the existence of Industry Advisory Boards, Industry Education Centres, and Industry on Campus (IOC) at the level of the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (JPPKK),” he said.
