KUALA TERENGGANU: A social media influencer was detained after bringing a car into the sea during a filming session off Kuala Terengganu on Wednesday, Harian Metro reported.
Terengganu Maritime Director Captain Hamiludin Che Awang said the influencer was arrested during “Operasi Iman” at 6pm, about 16 nautical miles northwest of here near Pulau Bidong.
He said the car had been placed on a platform pulled by a passenger boat, an act deemed to contravene the Merchant Shipping Ordinance 1952.
A second boat involved in the filming was also detained for operating without a valid licence, with the two vessels carrying 12 crew and passengers aged between 21 and 32.
All those detained, who are locals, were taken to the Terengganu Maritime Jetty at around 2am for further investigation under the Merchant Shipping Ordinance.
